BREAKING NEWS! . . . Parents are best tuition teachers for children . . .

Perfection in writing for perfection in law . . .

Parents are the best tuition teachers for children . . .

Now, every parent can be a tuition teacher, mothers are important!

Besides reading out aloud, I use Year 4 Maths Paper 2 in English speaking class.

In maths, the focus is on Year end test papers and exam papers from public exams.

All parents can do it. They can see me for guidance. Start early i.e. at Year 4 for Year 1 to Year 3 students.

Students can easily go from A+ in Year 3 to F in Year 4 if they don’t go through the Upper Primary syllabus in Lower Primary.

There’s a big jump in the syllabus and curriculum between Year 3 and Year 4. A+ students in Year 3 can only regain the A+ in Year 5 after June.

Year 1 students can memorise the multiplication tables. They must attend at least 15 classes, each class for 90 mins.

In writing, follow the format for those who can’t write.

Literature is a must.

Literature is about moral values. There are only 50 questions which can be asked on any book.

Productivity may also be the key to recognition.

None of V. S. Naipaul’s books, for example, were considered for the Nobel Prize in Literature.

The Prize is highly political.

Finally, in one year, when no activist wrote a first book while in jail, Naipaul was given the Nobel Prize in Literature “for a lifetime of writing”.

Naipaul brought out a book every two years shortly after the age of 20 at Oxford University.

He followed no other profession.

In his own words, he writes only 250 words a day, no more, no less. If he breaks the rule, he makes up for it the next day i.e. either writing less than 250 words or writing more.

Naipaul’s books never became best sellers but critics acclaimed his works.

Time Magazine hailed him in a cover story as “the greatest living writer in the English language”.

I never finished any Naipaul book.

I could finish books by Ernest Hemingway and James Michener.
