Sabah lacks leadership values and skills . . .

CEO in Sabah are just glorified clerks!

Jeffrey G Kitingan, There’s a lack of leadership values and skills in Sabah.

There’s a lack of management skills.

CEO in Sabah are just glorified clerks.

Leadership begins with exercising the right of free speech and speaking up and speaking out on matters of public concern and public interest.

The media, an unthinking animal which can be manipulated, exercises self-censorship, imposes censorship, and denies the right of reply to even their own content.

The media blocks whatsApp msg, blocks mobile phones, blocks email addresses and bans subscription accounts to deny the right of reply.

The media cannot rebut critics.

It compiles known facts and passes that off as opinion.

Most of the content in media is plagiarised from other media. If plagiarised content is rewritten and attributed, it’s still plagiarism. There’s no originality of thought and no original thinking.

There’s no law on plagiarism.

It’s not a triable issue.

All laws are in fact works of plagiarism.

The media avoids connecting the dots. There’s originality of thought and original thinking in connecting the dots.

In connecting the dots, we can write from memory, based on all the readings.

The media avoids investigative journalism like the plague.

There should be no editorialising — injecting the views and bias of the reporter — in news stories.

News stories should be based on the legalistic inverted pyramid format.

CNN-style story telling isn’t journalism. It’s entertainment under the guise of journalism.

Journalism is about bad news.

Fact-checking isn’t journalism.

Those affected by the work of journalists have the right of reply. That makes fact-checking redundant.

Those denied the right of reply can go to court.

The media, the 4th Estate after the legislature, Executive and judiciary, is a public service organisation.

It’s duty-bound to cover matters of public concern and public interest.

Harping on the Hala Tuju Mantra isn’t enough.

There must be leadership and management.

GLC CEOs at present are glorified clerks. No international headhunter would accept them.

It’s important to recognise the Truth (emancipation of the mind), have Faith (seeing things which can exist) and commitment (not giving up) to reach the Destination.
